The Acoustic Reality invented crossover is very different from other serial
crossovers, because it has baffle compensation and is possible to control the
-6dB point in the XO frequency. This is not possible with any other serial
capacitor-less crossovers.
The Acoustic Reality invented crossover is capacitor-less and is therefore
completely free of any component distortion, only parts to the most fastidious
audiophiles are found in the distortion-free crossover.
The Acoustic Reality crossover is impedance linear and therefore the
loudspeakers are an easy load for any amplifier to drive. The crossover slopes
are perfect 2. order acoustical Likwitz Riley slopes.

Is there no capacitor in the crossover ?
No. As many may know there is NO capacitor which is distortion-free.

But how can the tweeter then be protected when the capacitor is by-passed
or capacitor-less?
The tweeter is protected very well by a very heavy shunt foil coil with a DCR
near zero, because the coil insures the low frequencies to the tweeter are
shorteded.
What is foil coils?
If you take a 1.6 mm˛ copperwire and roll it flat, the copper surface area
becomes 12 times larger.
And why is that an advantage?
We know, with rising frequency the electrons will reach for the surface. This
phenomenon are known as power distortion. This is why we need as large a
surface, as we can get, so the electrons do not, said in a popular way, get
squeezed on their way. A hard-wood core makes it possible to wind the
coils extra close. This results in very low magnetoshrinking factor and
virtually zero FM distortion. This is very close to the "ideal
inductor" in all respects.
The Acoustic Reality loudspeakers do only contain foil coils and even very
expensive gold plated and very high power resistors (the induction-free
high-power resistors are BIG).

How can the loudspeakers be impedance linear when there is
no impedance correction network?
This is one of the smart inventions. The Acoustic Reality crossover is
impedance linear without any extra sound-damaging components or sound-damaging
correction network. The Acoustic Reality crossover ensure a very flat impedance
from 0Hz and above. The net result is a loudspeaker which is an easy load for
any amplifier to drive.
Personal level adjustment
Some of the Acoustic Reality speakers have another feature: The resistor is
mounted on the rear side on the Speakers (Note: The resistor is mounted inside
the Tetra One, it is necessary on this floorstanding speaker).
It does look cool and gives a better cooling too. The feature is that if you
ever want to fine-tune the tweeter level to your personal taste, a higher level
or a lower level from the tweeter, then it is very easy to change the value of
the resistor. Tell us which sound you prefer and we will send you a pair of new
resistors. You must pay the in-expensive shipping of the resistors and the price
of the new resistors, that's all. The resistors are expensive and therefore you
can return the original resistor to us, then you only have to pay the shipping
of a letter, it is in-expensive.

No break-in time and infinite lifetime
It is common that the components of the crossover must be broken-in. This is
because of the capacitor. When the capacitor is by-passed there is no break-in
time of the Acoustic Reality crossover, but only the driver units must play some
music to be break-in. Therefore it is very fast to break-in the Acoustic Reality
loudspeakers, much faster than other bands using Scan Speak drivers. The
lifetime of the Acoustic Reality crossover components are longer than your
lifetime too!
